The Lawlis Peavey PNP Center

ADD/ADHD & Brain-Based ATTENTION Disorders

A primary focus for the Lawlis Peavey PNP Center is the assessment of children, adolescents and adults with attentional challenges, including ADD and ADHD. Through a comprehensive and integrative assessment the cause(s) for attentional difficulties are determined. The principle approach of assessment is finding and building on the strengths of the individual and his/her support system, identifying the challenges, and providing direction to develop skills in managing the challenges.

Experience at the PNP Center has shown us that only one third of the individuals previously diagnosed with ADD/ADHD actually have ADD/ADHD. There are many other reasons for difficulties with attention, concentration, and focus.

Let us help you with our comprehensive diagnostic assessment approach.

The experiences of the families seen in the Lawlis Peavey PNP Center have shown attentional challenges come from several layers, rather than one specific issue of ADD or ADHD.  Improving attention is a process. Fundamental tools to positively affect brain change are offered at Wrap Up and a "Brain Enlivening Schedule" is formulated before an individual leaves the PNP Center. Over the next 3 months an Individualized Treatment Plan or Game Plan is developed. This often involves coordinating several specialty areas in order to provide the type of care needed. The goal  is to provide a complete diagnostic plan and follow-up direction for treatment and training in the home area.

Therapeutic Intervention

Various treatment modalities will be offered based on successful probability and follow-up. These include:
  • Neurotherapy
  • Biofeedback
  • Medical direction
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Detoxification recommendations
  • Exercise therapy
  • Educational remediation
  • Behavior vision therapy
  • Individual psychotherapy
  • Parental coaching
  • Family therapy
